Chester Grosvenor Website

I was thrilled recently to be asked by the Chester Grosvenor to do makeup for a phototshoot they had arranged to show case their wedding facilities.  I got to work again with the amazing photographer Amanda Dantuma again on this shoot who truly did another fantastic job of capturing the essence of the Grosvenor.

With myself doing makeup and my partner in crime Gillian Roslan-Oates on hair we had the most fantastic two days at the Grosvenor preparing 5 lovely models for the shoot.  The Grosvenor provided us with fantastic facilities and plenty of food and refreshments to keep us going!

Our work has now been featured on the Chester Grosvenor website

The National Makeup Awards 2016 - NEC Birmingham

Having entered the NMUA Awards last year as a student I thought I would have a go as a professional this year.  There were two categories - in the morning bridal makeup with inspiration from the autumn / winter '16 Catwalks and in the afternoon an artistic makeup look based around the exceptionally talented makeup artist Lan Nguyen-Grealis' book Art and Makeup.

There was a really good turn out with makeup artists travelling from all over the country, from Scotland to London.

The morning category started at 9.30 with an hour and a half to complete our looks,  To support the makeup we were also required to provide a mood board and face chart to explain the theory behind the look.  Judges walked around throughout the competition assessing technique, work space tidiness, application and overall look. Once the time was up we then had to present our models on stage in front of the judges and audience.  Judges then went off to make their decisions - not announcing the results until later in the afternoon.

We had approximately an hours break before the afternoon category started.  The standard of makeup was exceptionally high and it was amazing to watch such professional makeup artists working to produce such fantastic work.  Lan Nguyen-Grealis is such an amazing makeup artists with amazing makeup to take inspiration from - she is also makeup artist to Paloma Faith. My entry was based around the 'Painters' section, in particular the Baroque period.  I looked at Rembrandt lighting and how that could be interpreted in modern day makeup.  I took inspiration from catwalk Baroque fashion and the ever popular highlighting and contouring trend.  I fashioned a headress from some silk flowers and good old ebay provided the rest!  My amazing model Jemima did a fantastic job and although we were not placed in this category it was such good fun to take part and a really good learning experience - watch this space for next year!!

Once the afternoon category had been judged it was time to reveal the results from the morning bridal category.  Having no expectation of being placed in my first professional competition I was completely over the moon to have been placed 2nd.  I received a certificate, medal and goody bag from Inglot which was very nice.! The winner created the most amazing Indian bridal look and was certainly a worthy winner. I would like to say a huge thank you to my friend Lisa Oakes for letting me borrow her beautiful wedding dress.  Jemima Lewis-Jones my beautiful model and my husband for chauffering us!

Wedding Makeup

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is being involved in a Wedding and all the preparations leading up to it! The lovely Jasmine started coming to my salon based in Nantwich, Cheshire approx 7 months ago to start preparations for her big day.  We carried out several HD Brow treatments in the run up to her wedding and various treatments a few days before so she was all wedding ready. We finished around 10.30 that evening as her daughter had been unwell in the day - but those preparations were very important so we worked aound it.

On the morning of the wedding I arrived early, starting with the Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride then Jasmine herself.  It was such a wonderful morning and I felt very honoured to be a part of such a special day. Jasmine had already had her makeup and hair trials so knew she could relax and enjoy the mornings preparations with a glass of Prosecco!

All weddings are such a special occasion to be a part of and Jasmine has very kindly let me share some pictures from her very special day.  I would like to congratulate the new Mr and Mrs Rogers and wish them all the very best for their future happiness. I really love my job!

Dorfold Hall Styled Bridal Shoot

Back in early March I was very proud to be a part of Dorfold Halls very first styled bridal shoot. Dorfold will start hosting weddings from 2017 and what an exceptional wedding venue it will be.  Dorfold Hall is a hidden gem in the heart of Cheshire.  As the gates opened and we drove down the long drive way with the sun shining we knew it was going to be a great day.  We were able to explore the outstanding grounds and the Hall itself and with the amazing team of women working on the shoot we were able to get these beautiful images which are featured now on the Dorfold Hall website.
